Our guest speaker this month, Dr. Nancy Haak will discuss how we swallow normally and changes that occur due to Parkinson’s and more importantly, suggestions to help. Dr. Haak is an Associate Professor at Auburn University and has taught courses on speech and swallowing. Some estimates predict 70 to 90% of people with Parkinson’s disease have or will have problems swallowing. Those problems will vary from mild to significant.
