Well, it’s still downtown, but not on South Railroad Avenue. You’ll find the Farmer’s Market is Courthouse Square this year. Open from 3P-6PM. The market is hosted by Opelika Main Street each year and is open every Tuesday.
Tuesday Night is the final Summer Swing in Monkey Park. It brings and end to summer (if not summer weather) and the beginning of a new school year, which began on Tuesday. Route 66 is back to close out the year, again this year.
And the Farmer’s Market will continue for a few more weeks. Today at 2PM.

Summer Swing continues with an Elvis Tribute tonight (Tuesday, June 22nd). Bill J. Brooks -ELVIS Lives Concert –It’s a Top rated Elvis Tribute artist in the S.E. Then don’t forget to drop by the Farmer’s Market earlier in the day. It’s 2 to 5 this year, and from what I understand last week the crowds and the goodies where plentiful. The Main Street Farmer’s Market continues thru the summer downtown in Opelika along South Railroad Avenue, between 8th and 9th Street.
I know, it’s just almost August, and to me in the old days, that would mean another month of summer. But for some teachers and kids, it’s getting back to school time in coming weeks.
The Farmer’s Market is open Tuesday afternoon at 3PM in downtown. Summer Swing has some good ole Southern Gospel with Fred Jones and the Good News Trio (July 28th)
Thanks to the folks over at WSFA News 12 for their Text Updates. I got a view of the Shuttle and Space Station passing over downtown Opelika last night due to the alert. Okay, so it’s just a fast moving light in the sky, but to a sky watcher, it’s pretty cool.

The official hours each Tuesday are from 3Pm-6PM in downtown, but by 5:30PM most everything was gone. According to some, nearly 300 folks came thru the first two hours and pretty much clean out the vendors. Make a note of that time, and get there a few minutes early!
