Going, Going Gone… Get it while you can!
Saturday, March 19th, 2011
From Buddies Bert and Andrew in Boston… It seems like only yesterday that we were putting the last of our Samuel Adams® Winter Lager empties into the recycling bins, and welcoming in the slightly milder weather with the crisp and hoppySamuel Adams Noble Pils. But as the clocks spring ahead, we know that the seasons are about to change once again, and with it will gothis wonderful seasonal brew. Like an internet version of Paul Revere’s midnight ride, we call upon our loyal Sam Fans to help spread the word far and wide, that in mere weeks, Noble Pils will be gone until next year. Share this message with your beer-loving friends, and one day history may look back upon you as the heroes that you are. Uh, Bert and Andrew I think we just did!
Update 3/27/11 – You can find it on tap for a few days at the Irish Bred Pub. When it’s gone, it’s gone.

I’ve been meaning to grab some pictures of some work in downtown to a few buildings of note. Below first, is the building at the Corner of Avenue A and South 8th Street. This is one owned by Race Cannon. The offices on the second floor are occupied I believe, and the large space below is being closed in, with a new coat of paint on the outside. Second picture below is the Irish Bred Pub. We’ve talked about this one for nearly a year, as the final touches have gone on the outside and inside of the building. We could see an opening (something like a soft opening) in July. They have a pretty extensive beer tap system both downstairs and upstairs, with bar’s in both locations. Neighbor Rick will be in charge of the kitchen so we’re looking for big things coming. And the picture of the banner in Woodbine, Indiana was just to show what some other cities have done with banners in downtown, similiar to what had been in Opelika in past years.

We’ve been talking among the staff about how great the MIS Staff is. From our arrival in the staging area to our third day here. Well, now it’s time to say thanks and Happy Birthday to Laurie. Freinds posted a little “It’s my Birthday Sign” on her golfcart, unknown to her. So those random “Happy Birthday’s” I’m sure were a surprise. You know me, I had to grab a photo with the birthday girl. Happy Birthday Laurie from the ODN staff.
Then of course there’s Can Head who was wandering the campground showing his unique ability to sick a can or bottle of beer to his head. And at this point, we’ve managed to catch two races, plus the Natiowide on TV this evening. The weather has been good to us and looks like it will be okay for the Sunday race. I’ll have more from the Speedway in coming days.
