Saturday, Sept 11th from 7-11PM at The Cultural Center (Formerly the Miriam S. Brown School) 1103 Glenn Street in Opelika. Evening of Jazz performed by the Opelika High School Jazz Band, Great Food by Jimmy’s and wonder items to bid on. Tickets are $30 in advance per person and $35 at the door. Group or Corporate tables are $240 and seat 8. Tickets available at Fringe, Southern Crossing, Victory Designs and from any Main Street Board Member.

Thursday, Sept 9th it’s Auburn vs. Mississippi State Tailgate.  Jimmy’s Restaurant of downtown Opelika will be serving tailgate fare. The game will be broadcast live on our HUGE 14 ft wide screen TV so you and your friends can watch and have good eats too.  Also Gus of Fine Wine & Beer by Gus will be talking about craft beers (35+ craft beers available to choose from) to help wash down jambalaya, boiled shrimp, assorted sliders, chicken tenders, potato salad, steamed veggies and more. Of course wine and other beverages will be available. Cost is $10 per person and includes Jimmy’s fare. Doors open 2 hours before game time at 4:30pm. Let Jimmy’s cook and clean so you can enjoy the game and leave the rest to us.

And for Alabama Fans on Saturday at the Event Center Downtown… Saturday, Sept 11th. Alabama vs. Penn State game will be broadcast on our HUGE 14 ft wide screen. BBQ and other tasty eats will be available for purchase. No entry fee.  Doors open 4:30pm.  Game starts at 6:00pm

Woofstock’s family friendly activities include a children’s fun area, K-9 demonstrations, the LCHS adoption tent, pet merchandise vendors and much more. Woofstock will offer many activities for four-legged friends including a Wash-N-Wag tent and pet contests. The celebration will feature live music from the young musicians of Tom Spicer’s Garage Band Camp.

New to Woofstock this year, the City of Auburn will host a microchip and rabies vaccination clinic. Microchips will cost $15.00 and rabies vaccinations will cost $10.00 or attendees may purchase both for their pets for only $20.00. Auburn residents may also register their dogs for the city tags at the event.

To honor September 11, Woofstock will feature the AL-TF1 Urban Search & Rescue: K9 Team. Don’t miss your chance to meet the volunteers who train and handle these heroic dogs and the brave K9 team, itself.

On behalf of the animals at the shelter, the Lee County Humane Society invites the entire community and their dogs to be a part this day of fun and festivities in the park. Admission is free and there is a small fee for some activities in the park.

All proceeds and donations from Woofstock benefit adoption programs for the animals at the shelter.

I would add something about the beer.  Twelve Beers on Tap. There’s a house beer that changes out, and last night it had Natural Light.  Guinness was at the other end of the flavor line.  With the exception of Sid’s 8th Street Cafe, these could also be the best prices in the area.  My Sam Oktoberfest was just $2.78 if I remember it right.

Saturday from 4p-1A, the Event Center Downtown will rock with 5 bands on 2 stages, plus 30 beers from around the globe, oh yea, and some BBQ.  The sampling of beer is from 6p-9p.  Bands playing include; The Good Doctor, Cedar Hill, Cheaper Than Theraphy, The Packway Handle Band and Glow.  The beer is from Fine Wine and Beer by Gus.  Tickets are $25 and you can call 334-705-5466 for more information.
