The Loveliest Village on the Plains, A Portrait of Auburn, Alabama

Auburn Landmarks

Neighbor and friend Iain did a similar project like this one for Montogomery.  You may have seen it.  Now, he turns to the landmarks that make Auburn home to those there and long gone. From his website: “Depicting fifty three local landmarks, this “city portrait” of Auburn is a unique and beautiful representation of The Loveliest Village on the Plains. This original watercolor, by Iain Stewart, has been faithfully reproduced on 80 lb, premium, textured, white paper to replicate the tooth and texture of the Arches watercolor paper of the original.”  I’ll be adding it to my collection.  Coming next, Tuskaloosa and then Opelika.

Auburn PictureThe scan above certainly doesn’t deliver the detail you’ll find on the original.  Check it out with larger bits of the art work.  Go to the Auburn Picture Website for more information.   You’ll find pricing, some framing options and the legend of what each of the items in the picture is.  Pretty interesting reading.  This picture may be Auburn, but he’s doing the work in his studio office in his Southside Opelika restored historic home.   Nice job buddy!
