The Opelika Tree Commission will be hosting its annual Arbor Day Activities on Saturday, February 28th, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at Courthouse Square in downtown Opelika.  The morning’s activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. with children’s activities, which includes having pictures made with Smokey the Bear. During the festivities there will be a tree planting demonstration, followed by the Tree Commission’s annual “tree give away”. This year the Tree Commission will be giving away: 200 Red maples, 200 Chinese Fringe trees, 200 Autumn Olive trees, 200 Cherrybark oak trees, 200 Live Oak trees.
