Happy Thanksgiving Folks! With the Macys Parade on TV, I’ve finished a complete review of the sales inserts in the OA News this morning. According to Kate Larkin, the paper weighed in at 4.5 pounds this morning. It looks like Kohl’s and Goody’s are going to be first open in the morning, with a 4AM start to Black Friday! Just for the record, no, I won’t be in line at 4AM!
I was thinking as I posted this morning of things am thankful for this past year. I won’t bore you with details but having a job, great friends, health, regular readers to this blog and living in Opelika would top the list. Oh yea, a Boston named Bo and Doberman named Mitch would be there for always being glad to see me at the end of the day. Wait, I’m getting into a list that I just said I wouldn’t do!
Mayor Fuller already visited the site this morning and commented on my New Christmas Tree for City Story with a reminder, “The “official” tree lighting will be a part of the 2nd Annual Carol of Lights, 6 PM, Saturday, December 6th. This event, under the direction of FUMC Minister of Music, Dr. Michael Marcades, will feature a community choir and will take place near the Christmas tree on South Railroad Avenue.” Thanks Mayor for stopping by!
A Thanksgiving evening tradition returns for folks that return home to the Opelika area for the Holidays as Adam Hood entertains the crowd at Eighth and Rail tonight.
