Hey Vic - This is just accross street from the Thrifty Portable Building location. And you're right, I did get a building from them a few years ago. They were such supporters of WJHO over the years, I always said I'd spend money with them if I ever could. Polly was always a joy and Lee was in my backyard doing the install of the building! Thanks for your kind comments!

I believe this is the site of the former Thrifty Portable Buildings owned by Lee and Polly Pritchett (my parents) for over thirty years. (I understand you purchased a building from them some years ago.)

Jerry,

This entry has finally made me write to you. You do not know how much I have appreciated your website over the past years. My family moved to Opelika in March of '65 when I was five years old. After graduating from Auburn in '83, I moved to Massachusetts to accept an engineering position. I have been here ever since. I have gotten married and have four children. My oldest just graduated from high school today. We make it home to Opelika once a year to visit my parents, brother, and other relatives. Until I found your website several years ago, I was starving for info about my home town. Now, every weekend I look forward to reading the latest news about the new business openings downtown and at Tiger Town, the various cultural events, and other news. (I access the O-A News website as well, but it does not have the personal touch that you provide.) Even though I now have lived over half my life here in Massachusetts, I am still very interested in what is happening in my hometown of Opelika, Alabama and eager to learn how it is growing economically and culturally. You provide a tremendous service to me and to others like me who have moved away, but still want to stay in the know about what is happening in our hometown. You are truly a blessing.

Best regards,
Vic Pritchett

Well, that's not where I had placed it. Thanks Henry. I'll grab a picture of today's location which is somewhat of a vacant lot today, but only in the last year or so.
